The cube-shaped sauna has a full-width glass front: aluminium exterior in soft white, interior lined with sleek composite and horizontal thermo-ayous slats that catch the light differently throughout the day. The ice bath beside it gets the exact same cladding, right down to the step. As a result, sauna and ice bath don’t read as two separate pieces, but as one whole. Whether it stands in the garden or on a rooftop terrace overlooking the city, the picture holds: heat and cold side by side, in the same material.
Until recently, a sauna and an ice bath were usually chosen separately: different materials, different lines, placed together simply because they belong together, not because they were designed that way. This project shows what changes when you conceive of them as one whole from the start: the switch from warm to cold no longer feels like a leap between two things, but like a single space built for that ritual.
This particular project is finished in ALU, but that choice isn’t a requirement. Every collection — PUU, MIX, MIR, MOR and ALU — can be paired with a matching ice bath, indoors or out. What you see here is one way of bringing that idea to life.
Why this combination is worth it
It’s not only about the view. Alternating between warm and cold is one of the oldest wellness rituals there is, and science keeps circling back to it. A long-running Finnish study linked regular sauna use to a markedly lower risk of cardiovascular disease and premature death. Recent research into cold therapy, meanwhile, points to measurable effects on cellular repair. The aluminium itself is built for that same durability: it resists UV and moisture without discolouring or warping. In decades, not seasons.
At Thermalux, we understand that everyone has different needs when it comes to wellness. That is why we offer different combinations to suit your needs. Would you like a steam room in addition to a sauna? Or an attached storage room? No problem!
